My name is Lee Emmert, and this is my personal homepage. LemWorld³ is the third incarnation of my website since it first appeared online in 1998.
I was born in the Midwestern United States and have since lived and traveled throughout the world.
Education - I attended high school at Cairo American College in Cairo, Egypt, where I graduated with an International Baccalaureate Diploma. I then moved to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York where I earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer and Systems Engineering.
Professional Interests - After working for several years as an IT consultant for a variety of public and private sector clients, I now work for Georgetown University's IT department managing public computing and desktop products. I write about my work in my professional blog: Educational Technology Reviews and Analysis. I hold both a Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) and a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) credentials. For more detail, please refer to my résumé.
Personal Interests - In January, 2008, I decided to pursue my dream of learning how to fly airplanes. I am now a certificated Private Pilot, and have logged nearly 150 hours in single-engine land airplanes since earning my certificate in August, 2009. I am currently pursuing an instrument rating.
I also love photography, and you will probably never catch me without a camera in hand when I go on vacation. I have always been fascinated by taking pictures. While living in Egypt, I realized that every day dozens if not hundreds of frames of interest were moving by me constantly and that if I had the right equipment and skill I could capture those moments forever.
With guidance from Dan Andrews (pictured here), and funding from my parents, I learned the basics of photography. After a few months and many rolls of film, I started producing the kind of memories that I wanted, something I could take away from Egypt and return to for years to come. I post current photos to my online photo album, and am still in the process of digitizing my large collection of old photos.
I'm also a current events junky and an avid traveler. In the past year I've been to Europe several times and through countless US cities. I am also a devoted reader of a variety of periodicals, including The Economist, and I always travel with one of the Let's Go travel book series in my carry-on.
Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or feedback.
